Abraham, the father of all peoples

They came to the place that God had told him. Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood; and he bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. But the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said,: «Abraamo, Abraamo!"He said,: "Here I am". And the angel: "Do not lay your hand on the lad or do anything to him! Now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only '. (Genesis 22:6-12)

The original name was Abram, which means “father of many nations”. God changed his name from Abram to Abraham in Genesis 17:5:

No longer will you be called Abram, but your name will be Abraham, for I have made you the father of many nations.
