In 2100 to.C. (4100 Years ago), Abraham was born in the Babylonian city of Ur (Iraq). Estimates for the era in which Abraham lived may vary gives 2100 to.C. al 1800 to.C. (between 4.100 years ago and 3800 Years ago). The details on the life of Abraham is contained in the book of Genesis, especially among the chapters 11 e 25.

The book of Genesis says that Abraham was a faithful man, who believed in the one true God. Abraham's faith was tested by God twice. Abraham was asked to leave his country and go to a land that God would show him (the land of Canaan, who later became Israel, the Promised Land).

This is in Genesis 12:1-4, that says:

The LORD said to Abram: "We’ away from your home country, from your relatives and from your father's house, it will’ in the land that I will show; I will make you a great nation, I will bless you and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you and curse him who curses you, and in thee shall be blessed all the families of the earth ". Abram went, as the LORD had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.

He was also asked to sacrifice his son Isaac, and to kill him in the name of God, which Abraham hastened to do even if reluctantly, but he was quickly stopped by God and loved her for this act of sincere faith.

E God said: "Take now thy son, your only, one you love, Isaac, it will’ the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell you ". (Genesis 22:2)

Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son, He picked up the fire and the knife, and they went both of them together. Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said,: "My Father!"Abraham replied,: "Here I am, my son". And Isaac: "Behold the fire and the wood; but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?"Abraham replied,: "My son, God himself will provide the lamb for a burnt offering ". They went both together. They came to the place that God had told him. Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood; and he bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, upon the wood. Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. But the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said,: «Abraamo, Abraamo!"He said,: "Here I am". And the angel: "Do not lay your hand on the lad or do anything to him! Now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only '. (Genesis 22:6-12)

God established a covenant with Abraham. this alliance, the promise, He was handed down to the son of Abraham, Isaac and then to his son Isaac, Jacob (Genesis 35:9-12). Israel was and remains God's people with whom he formed an alliance.

The origins of the Islamic peoples

Abraham's firstborn son Ishmael was, Ishmael's mother was called Agar. that, an Egyptian woman, He was a slave of Abraham. (cf.. Genesis 16:1). Abraham made his head when, He is knowing that his wife Sarah was barren and could not have children, She conceived a child with his slave girl. Ishmael and his mother were banished when God gave Abraham and Sarah a son, Isaac. Ismaele, then will form the basis of the creed of the Arab peoples, of which turns out to be the father.

When Hagar fled from Sarah, her mistress, an angel appeared to her and said,:

«To, Sarai's maid, where you come from and where are you going?"She replied,: "I flee from the presence of my mistress Sarai». The angel of the LORD said to her,: "Return to your mistress and submit to her hand". The angel of the Lord added,: "I will multiply your descendants that they can count, much will be numerous'. The angel of the LORD said to her: "Here, you are with child and bear a son; you shall call his name Ishmael, because the LORD has heard your affliction; he will be among men as a wild ass; his hand will be against every, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the face of all his brethren ". (Genesis 16:8-12)

And so it was. By discenzenza of Hagar born Islamic people who are very numerous and whose hand is against everyone and lives close to the state of Israel has always. Since then they conflict. God had foretold.

Abraham's eldest son and his wife, Sarah, is Isaac (Genesis 17,19). Isaac was the father of Jacob, It was the father of 12 tribes of Israel – the Jews.

As we read in Genesis 17:19:

God answered: «No, Sara, your wife, You shall bear thee a son, and you call his name Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him, an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.

God commanded Abraham to then chase away the servant Hagar and her son Ishmael, promising that he would raise up a nation even from them:

Then he told Abraham: "Cast out this handmaid and her son; for the son of this handmaid shall not be heir with my son, Isaac ». The matter distressed Abraham greatly because of his son. But God said to Abraham: "Do not grieve for the boy, nor your maidservant; you consent to whatever Sarah tells you, because Isaac's descendants will come out that will take your name. Even the son of the handmaid will I make a nation, because it belongs to thy seed». (Genesis 21:10-13)

The original name was Abram, which means “father of many nations”. God changed his name from Abram to Abraham in Genesis 17:5:

No longer will you be called Abram, but your name will be Abraham, for I have made you the father of many nations.
