Even the reindeer are hype of Coca Cola, while the original Santa Claus was pictured on a white horse.

Who is Santa Claus?

In fact Santa Claus Coca Cola that took place stably collective imagination resumes the Santa Claus tradition (in Italian San Nicola), protector of children and students. According to legend the man, of Turkish origin, and from a noble and rich family, help’ another fall family in ruins, where three girls were supposed to begin to prostitute themselves to survive poverty. The turkish Santa Claus gift’ the bags of gold coins to the girls to provide them with a dowry as to be taken in marriage, but finding the window of their room closed leave’ drop your bags from the chimney. Hence the legend of the good man who brings gifts through the chimney.

Because Christmas is celebrated 25 December?

In fact the date is wrong. By convention in the year 337 AD, Pope Julius I chose this date because the day of the Roman feast of the birthday of the sun. From this day forward where the sun was beginning to defeat the dark and the days lengthened. This is the choice of the Roman Church of the West, while the Roman Church of the East continuously’ to celebrate the birth of Christ on Epiphany (6 January).

Jesus was born in year zero?

Not really, between it would be born 10 and the 4 b. C. The error stems from incorrect calculations of monaco Dionysius the little that, in an attempt to correct the Easter calendar, use by convention as the date of birth of the Christ 25 December 753 after the founding of Rome. But in fact Christ would be born in the reign of Herod, who died three years before the founding of Rome, the monaco would have to use to the maximum the year 750 after the founding of Rome. Hence the historical error and paradox: Christ would be born at least 3 years before the birth of Christ

Because it decorates the Christmas tree?

in ancient Egypt, during worship of the sun, addobbava is a pyramid. Tradition also echoed by other nations, among them also those of the north, which of course replaced what’ who had not with what is available: from fir pyramid. Lights on the tree, as in the cult of the sun, represent the light of life.

Coincidences with the worship of the sun

In the second half of December in ancient Rome were the Saturnalia, ie a party in honor of Saturn, They are celebrating the end of days more’ dark in honor of lengthening of the days. Among the features of these festivals: They cease public activities for a few days (first Christmas holiday…) and abolition -for a few days- social differences (at Christmas we are all better…)

And the exchange of gifts?

At the end of the Saturnalia citizens they exchanged honey, figs and sacred twigs, in honor of an ancient tradition carried on by Romulus, the founder of Rome. The custom of exchanging gifts has remained, reinforced by Christmas and the advertising marketing climate.

Regardless of their background, Christmas remains a useful period for many: for families (who gather), for companies (It is the period of increased sales), for the Church, for children (come the gifts and the holidays).

It is a good time for Christians to celebrate the birth of Jesus, even if it is not the exact.
