Institution of Marriage

image_pdfimage_print

The marriage was not instituted by man, but by God himself, since the first man He created on earth. In fact we see that, after God created the sky, the earth and all the animals, he created man in His image and likeness and placed him in the garden in Eden.

The man, in the divine plan, he was lord and master of all created things, in fact, God made all the animals pass in front of Adam to give each of them a name. But despite all this, the man felt alone, he needed another being like him to communicate and show his affection. God then said: "It is not good for man to be alone, I will make him a suitable help ". Note the way he formed the woman. It made the man fall into a deep sleep, he took one of Adam's ribs and created woman from it, then God gave it to Adam and, not only sanctioned, but he blessed the first marriage in this world.

God did not take the woman from Adam's head or feet, but from the side, because according to the divine plan of the family, the woman must never become the head of the man, but neither must she be his slave.golden-wedding-rings-on-holy-bible_2592333[1]

God has given her a specific role in associated life. Scripture remembers: "Husbands, love your wives, as Christ also loved His Church and gave himself up for her " (1) placing before Christian spouses the example of the mystical union of Christ with the Church, His Bride.

The true Church of Christ was born from the pierced and bleeding side of Jesus. Christian spouses must recognize their role within the family, remember their promise of perpetual union and fidelity, it was made before God. "That … that God has joined, don't let man part " (2).

The law of divorce is irrelevant to Christians, who recognize the priority of divine law over human law and joyfully accept the role of service that they have the privilege of fulfilling in the family and in society.
