The call of God through the Holy Spirit

The wind blows where it wants, and you hate the noise, but you don't know where it comes from or where it goes; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit (Giovanni 3:8)

No one can come to me unless the Father draws him, who sent me; and I will resurrect him on the last day. (Giovanni 6:44)

God's call is NOT up to us, it is not we who want our conversion, but it is the Holy Spirit who manifests himself according to God's plans. Here Jesus says that anyone who converts and has faith in God does not do it according to his own ability and will, but it is the Father who drew him.

In the chapter 6 of John Jesus teaches that he will resurrect his believers in the last day of this era and give them eternal life. Those who believe in Him know that He is the Bread of Life and the answer to all our needs. Jesus is the central figure of our relationship with God, He is the Life (Teacher. 14:6) and he promised that none of his true believers will be lost.

Who can have life? Only those who come to Christ.

Who can come to Christ? Only those whom God has placed in his plans.

There is one inner call from God that only true believers experience, only true believers hear and recognize; the call that makes you understand that Jesus Christ is the Savior and the Bible is his Word. The inner call is so enlightening that we immediately realize that we need to be saved and confess our Lord and Savior with our hearts., repenting for our sins. We realize that we are all sinners alike and humbly draw closer to the Lord.

How the inner call happens?

It always happens the same way, life situations change, the environments where it can take place, but there is always a succession of precise facts:

  1. Manifestation of the Holy Spirit.
  2. Sudden awareness of one's sinful state.
  3. Humiliation before Jesus Christ and a request for forgiveness, as well as a promise to follow him forever.
  4. Forgiveness of sins, sanctification of the new believer and spiritual rebirth.
  5. Feelings of joy, happiness and enlightenment in one's life, radical change of the converted person.

One suddenly realizes that one is a sinner (because before it was too much “of the world” and materialists to understand this spiritual concept) and it follows repentance and the will to follow Jesus Christ in all respects. The Holy Spirit is able, in a very short time, of “enlighten you” and give you answers in your heart, answers to all your logical life questions, it removes all doubts from you because it is God himself who gives you this gift, to give you FAITH and understanding of the spiritual world. Before conversion you are a human being of this world, your heart is made of stone, in the sense that it is impervious to the love of God and the understanding of his creation. After conversion you receive a heart of flesh and the Holy Spirit, becoming a spiritual person. In the Bible it also says “be born again”.

Even Ezekiel in the prophecy on the Messiah anticipates the work of redemption of believers that he would have accomplished in the Father through the Savior:

I will give you a new heart and I will put a new spirit within you; I will remove the heart of stone from your body, and I will give you a heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 36:26)

And after the call we can say:

… One thing I know, that I was blind and now I see. (Giovanni 9:25)

because Jesus has us “restored sight” that we lost through sin and opened our eyes.

The call is made by God not by us humans, and it happens only once in a lifetime; it is so obvious that we no longer forget that moment of time that changes life by pushing us to live according to Christian teachings. And against those who say it is possible to resist God's call, against those who think that accepting salvation depends on us, by our free will and our free decisions, I say:

You don't know then what God's call is, maybe it's just something you've imagined, because when God calls, his grace is IRRESISTIBLE, and we are unable to say yes or no, we can only accept his gift, as it has enlightened us, opened our eyes, we can't tell “Okay I believe it or I don't believe it” because if we think so then we have not been called by God but it is the result of our conditioning. You cannot say NO to God, and nobody can do it, none of those He has decided that he will save, none of his chosen ones to salvation, because He is God and does not need our consent to save us.

Jesus says:

No one can come to me unless the Father draws him, who sent me; and I will resurrect him on the last day. (Giovanni 6:44)

No one, if the Father has not decided to save her, can seek faith, you cannot get close to Jesus Christ. The Father chooses and calls us through his Spirit by drawing us closer to the Son. We are wrong if we believe that we first of our own free will seek God and then He manifests himself to us, because if we are looking for it, it means that He is already working in us and has manifested himself in us with the Spirit. Now we just have to get the call and figure it out.

We who believe in Jesus Christ, we who have been called, we have the eternal certainty of our salvation, because we know we have been part of his plans and designs since before the creation of the world (Romans 8:28-30).

Believer, be happy and serene because the Father chose you even before creation and brought you closer to Jesus according to his plans. It took the sin and rebellion typical of human beings out of your life. You will never lose salvation because God always keeps his promises and you rejoice in it!

Unbeliever, you need a Savior even if you don't realize it and mock this thing, for this he invokes the Father and awaits the call, because if you believe in God, if you do this, you will find out if you are also in his plans. If you submit with your heart, (not with rationality) to Dio, you may begin to think that you too are a chosen one, otherwise you would never do this, (that is, kneel and pray) that to the people of the world may seem so stupid. Pray to receive the call and God will manifest himself as he promised in his Word!
